Ben Anderson and Kline Grant were high school and college sweethearts until lies and miscommunication tore them apart. When Kline returns to Anderson Butte a decade later, they're thrown back together only to find out that well-intentioned lies and miscommunication seem to be their modus operandi. Will ten years apart help them learn to communicate, or will they continue their pattern of dysfunction? It Had To Be Them was exactly what I've come to expect from Tamra Baumann's books – it was full of feelings, humor, (well-intentioned) nosy neighbors, feisty old people, smoldering sexual tension, a ton of hope, and the never-ending belief that if you have real love, you can do, and overcome anything.
From the very first time that we met him in this series, I have adored Ben as a character, and I have been anxiously awaiting this book so that he could get his happily ever after. Especially when the truth about WHY he was in Anderson Butte came out. Oftentimes the things we wait anxiously for don't live up to our expectations, but that wasn't the case here, this book was everything I wanted and more. There's just something about a second chance romance that makes me smile, especially when the characters were both so incredibly likable. (Slight spoiler) Ben's quirk made my heart ache for him. Especially when we learned exactly when and why it started.
If you're new to Ms. Baumann's work, you should definitely start at the beginning of this series so that it makes more sense and because they're great books. This little town is one of my favorite “book towns” ever and even though this feels like the last book, I hope she finds a way to keep Anderson Butte alive.
If you already enjoy Tamra Baumann's books, you're going to love this addition to the series.

It Had to Be Them An It Had to Be Novel Book 4 edition by Tamra Baumann Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I enjoyed the small town love story - this is the fourth book I have read from this author.
A hokey sweet romance book. The town is unrealistic but funny. It is ruled with an iron fist by Ben's father, he attempts to control everything his kids and the town do. There is also a Hatfield and McCoy underlying storyline that needs to be better developed. A sweet ending
Read this series. You will be glad you did! I loved the character development. They are So real. Sweet story. A fun beach read.
I am not finished with book 3 yet. But really enjoyed these books. They were worth the money and a few enjoyable read.
There's no place like home.... even when past situations have you running for the hills. As Ben and Kline try to put the pieces of their past and present back into perspective, this is a great story of everlasting love and stubbornness.
I loved all this series of books. I enjoyed being able to read all the families story. Sometimes you are left wondering what happens to the other characters.
Book 4 in It Had To Be series was excellent. All four books in this series by Tamra Baumann were great. Loved the connection between characters in all of the books. And I really enjoy reading books by this excellent author. 5 Star storytelling all the way.
