Death Has a Name The Brodie Wade Series Book 2 eBook Jerry Hanel
I really enjoyed Death Has a Name, an entertaining paranormal detective mystery with shades of the macabre, a novel, imaginative plot and a few twists. The Truth has haunted Brodie all this life. It took him from his mother and put him in a children's psychiatric treatment home. Now, as an adult, Brodie uses the knowledge The Truth gives him to help police detectives, and has made a name for himself solving cold cases. It looks as if a serial killer has resurfaced, though Brodie's detective friend Phil knows that should be impossible. Members of a secret society ask for Brodie's help. The Truth forces Brodie in a twisted direction. Phil wonders if he should look for the killer in the last place he'd expect.
I think it's important to like the characters in a book and I like Brodie Wade, very much. The author made me feel Brodie's reluctance and dread each time he has to wade into a place swimming with spectral "truths" that demand he listen to them, knowing only he sees them and he can in no way, word or action, reveal what he experiences to those around him. Very nicely done!
Some parts of the book are a tiny bit rough around the edges, and it would benefit from the eyes of a proofreader and editor, because this is one of those VERY good books that merits a perfect presentation to make it EXCELLENT!
I hope Death Has a Name is the first in a series, because I want to get back together with Brodie Wade and discover his next case, his next adventure.

Death Has a Name The Brodie Wade Series Book 2 eBook Jerry Hanel Reviews
Death Has a Name is the first book I read on my and it was a good choice. I enjoy paranormal stories but was burned out on vampires and wanted something different; also, I wasn't quite ready to pay full price for an ebook so the $0.99 price was attractive.
I liked the premise of a man who can literally see the "Truth". Brodie stands out from the usual suave, butt-kicking paranormal main characters in that he's shy and not exactly a man of action. Seeing things that others can't has made him an outcast. His only friend besides Phil (the police detective he works with) is his cat, Sophie. I'm ashamed to admit that finding out in the sample that his cat's name was Sophie (also my cat's name) was one of the things that got me to buy the whole book, but I'm glad I did because it was a fun read.
The only negative thing I can think of is that the book felt a little short, but maybe that was just me not being used to reading on the . All in all, I think Death Has a Name is a good paranormal story at and at $0.99 it's a great value. I'm looking forward to the sequel.
to even consider myself a wroter. Well, not quite, but here is an excellent book, well written and quite readable. The author gently pulls you into his fantasy of multilayered characters and enough plot turns and twists to do a twistie tie proud. You never quite know, until the end, who is what and what the complete ending is, so it makes it extremely difficult to put down and resume your other duties. While reading this engrossing story, nothing else matters, not food, not work, nothing. Alas, I had many interruptions in my life when I first set down to read this book and often had to go back and read the previous chapter to get caught up to speed, but unlike other books, it was enjoyable to do so. This book will end up in my favorite reads collection where all my favorite, re-readable books end up along with greats like John Grisham, Micahel Palmer, Matthew Reilly and Dan Brown. The author left me wanting more and so sorry to see the book end. Hope there are many more to follow.
Incarcerated in a Mental Institution as a child because he "saw" "The Truth". "Cured" and released at 16. Friends with Detective Phil Dawson. Consultant with various police departments, with a specialty in cold cases.
One night Brodie's cat Sophie returns covered in blood. That night Brodie sees a headless man who tries to give him a message. The next day Det Dawson is called to a house with a headless man, then another. All of this leads to the search of a murderer and thief of two special necklaces. If the murder is able to get a third he will be able to release Death. (yep that is with a big D). Denise has one of the necklaces that will open the door to Death's prison, her father is one of the dead men.
So how is Denise going to avoid the murderer who killed her father. How is Brodie going to get people to understand that answers to the hows and whys on the dead men's murders don't exist in the normal realm. How is Det Dawson going to explain everything so that Brodie doesn't end up in another mental institution or worse in jail for murder.
While this is a stand alone book, explanation of "The Truth" doesn't come immediately in the book. If that bothers you please read the prequel The Truth Has Teeth, a novella, the description of "The Truth" is a bit more detailed there. "Death Has a Name" is followed by Thaloc Has a Body (The Brodie Wade Series)
I found Brodie's abilities to be interesting and unique. In that there was a cost to being able to see the truth and that even when presented with the truth understanding didn't always go hand in hand. In that way this does become a true paranormal mystery.
While I normally prefer character driven stories, I found this plot driven story to be exciting and fast paced. What few dragging sections there were, were needed to incorporate all of the mythos into the story. One thing I enjoyed about this is that the author "showed" us how "The Truth" works instead of explaining it.
So whether you like paranormal, mystery or thriller I think you will enjoy this.
I highly recommend this story.
