Twilight Zone The Original Stories Martin Harry Greenberg Richard Matheson Charles G Waugh Books Reviews
NOTE This is NOT a script, nor is it the actual Twilight Zone TV Series SHOWS. These are the Origenal short stories written by their respective authors that were later turned into Twilight Zone episodes.
Anyone who's a fan of Rod Serling's Twilight Zone will enjoy reading the ORIGINAL stories behind the re-written teleplays.
This book contains 30 stories, 550 pages, of some of the most popular episodes of the Twilight Zone.
However, I will warn you that stories do differ from the TV shows you watched as these are the stories that were ADAPTED into TELEPLAYS for TV and things changed. It's interesting for me, as a fan and industry professional to see what changes, what stayed the same, what was better, was should have stayed the same.
Go into this book with the knowledge these are the stories that Rod read and decided to ADAPT into his TV show, understanding they will differ in many areas and you will enjoy them all over again.

I love the stories in this book- some of the best stories adapted for the original Twilight Zone are here
Preface- Carol Serling (Rod Serling's widow)
Introduction - Richard Matheson
One for the Angels - Anne Serling-Sutton
Perchance to Dream - Charles Beaumont
Disappearing Act- Richard Matheson
Time Enough at Last - Lynn Venable
What You Need - Lewis Padgett
Third from the Sun- Richard Matheson
Elegy- Charles Beaumont- astronauts land on an asteroid and find a perfectly-preserved town from the past- along with its still-life inhabitants
Brothers Beyond the VOid- Paul Fairman
The Howling Man - Charles Beaumont
It's a Good Life- Jerome Bixby- the classic 'child from hell' tale
The Valley Was Still- Manly Wellman (adapted as Still Valley)
The Jungle- Charles Beaumont
To Serve Man- Damon Knight
Little Girl Lost- Richard Matheson- a strange story which definitely influenced Poltergeist (1982)
Four O' Clock-Price Day
I Sing The Body Electric! - Ray Bradbury
The Changing of the Guard- Anne Serling-Sutton
In His Image - Charles Beaumont
Mute- Richard Matheson
Death Ship- Richard Matheson
The Devil, You Say- Charles Beaumont
Blind Alley- Malcolm Jameson- my favorite story here. Bits of it ended-up in a decent episode "Of Late I Dream of Cliffordville". This story has
intriguing bits of history and bizarre details of double-dealing with devils. The details of what people ate and how they lived in America long ago
are fascinating.
Song for a Lady- Charles Beaumont
Steel - Richard Matheson- remade/re-adapted as the sci-fi movie Real Steel (2011)
Nightmare at 20,000 Feet - R. Matheson
The Old Man- Henry Slesar
Self-Improvement of Salvadore Ross - Henry Slesar
The Beautiful People- Charles Beaumont
Long Distance Call - R. Matheson
An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge - Ambrose Bierce- a classic story about life (and its fleeting moments).
